Anki Vector Robot Review | Unboxing and best features

Unboxing, setup and full tour of Anki's charming Vector robot, hitting the UK in October for £250. We explore some of the Anki Vector's best features, including his Alexa-style smarts, games he can play, and his fantastic ability to bother my cat. Unlike the older Anki Cosmo, Vector can connect directly to the internet to answer your questions. Forget using your iPhone or Android mobile to communicate, either - this robot understands voice commands, and can even charge himself up when needed. This review shows all of these Anki Vector features in action, with a few little tips and tricks for getting started with your robot pal. We definitely love Vector's personality, and he should be getting a few updates over time to make him even smarter. What do you think, could this be the best robot toy in 2018? Meet My Friend Anki Vector AI Robot

Anki Vector AI Robot: #ad #HeyVector Let me introduce you to Vector; Vector is a friendly AI robot from Anki, and if you're familiar with Anki, you may have heard of Cozmo, but this little guy, Vector, is more advanced. It's Anki's first home robot with personality. It's fully autonomous, cloud connected and always-on, highly intelligent, and aware of his surroundings through touch, sight and sound, entertaining and purposeful. Before we go further, in the box you get an Anki Vector, charging station, a cube and a quick start guide that is very handy and straightforward. To get it set up, you will need to download the Vector app on iOS or Android, in this case, I'm on Android. Once you've run through the setup process which includes pairing your phone with Vector, connecting it to your Wifi and registration if you don't have an account already, you can begin to explore the app for all the things Vector can do. Vector comes with its own Snapdragon quadcore processor so it's a lot faster and responsive, built-in wifi so with its cloud connectivity, Anki can always push through regular updates and new functions, 4 drop sensors to help it map the room as well as avoid falling off the surface, 4 microphones that can pick up your voice and sound from different direction and a wide-angle camera to help recognise users, take photos and in the future could even be used as a security camera and a laser metering sensor to stop it from bumping into stuff. On top of Vector, there's also a capacitive touch next to the power button so you can pet it, again making it more than just a robot. For privacy, nothing is stored in the cloud so you never have to worry about pictures taken ending up somewhere out of your control. Vector is very warm to look at rather than the intimidating robotic look we've come to believe from movies, he has movements and eyes that are animated to be really friendly using Maya digital animation and it doesn't require babysitting, it roams around when it wants to, can go back to its charging station and can even play with its cube. Anki has really struck a balance between what could be seen as just a toy robot, to something more of a companion, functional and fun to have around. It can even react to your TV sound and watch TV with you, cute right? It's an emotional one for sure. Anki is bringing objects to life through robotics and artificial intelligence, allowing people to build relationships with technology that feel a little more human. Chinese roboticist Xing Wang has long been a fan of BigDog, AlphaDog, Spot, SpotMini, and other robots that Boston Dynamics has famously introduced over the years. “Marc Raibert … is my idol,” Wang once told us about the founder and president of Boston Dynamics. For more info : SpotMini The new SpotMini looks much more polished and less grotesque, like a real-life cross between a Pixar animation and a robot out of a Neill Blomkamp vision of the future, thanks in part to series of bright yellow plates covering its legs and body. The new bot’s movement also looks incredibly fluid. It shows just how much progress Boston Dynamics is making on its goal of life-like, animal-inspired robots that can move and respond to the forces in the real world.
